Bart Township Fire Company will be hosting a 16 hour PA Legal Concepts for Fire Police Class on Saturday/Sunday, September 25 & 26th at station 5-1 from 7:30 am to 4 pm.  NO PRE-REGISTRATION is required, if you have any questions please contact FP Lt. Frank Creshine at (717) 286-5365.

Industrial Rescue Box

9/3/2010 - 09:58 - 1644 Georgetown Rd J&M Woodworks, Bart Township, Industrial Rescue, station 5-1, Quarryville FC Rescue 5-7, Ambulance 5-2-1, Medics 6 & 104.  Chief 5-1-2 (Woerth) went enroute and was advised by LCWC that a male subject in and out of consiousness and was pinned under plywood that fell off a forklift.  Upon arrival of fire apparatus, the woodshop workers removed the plywood.  EMS units treated the patient for a cut on the finger and transported him to a local hospital for evaluation.

Tanker 5-1-1 Assist Highville FC on Woods

9/3/2010 - 09:36 - 37 Chestnut Grove Rd, Manor Township, woods, Tanker 5-1-1 assist Highville FC Station 6-2.  Highville FC, along with several neighboring companies worked alongside the PA Department of Forestry crews to contain the 25 acre fire.  The tanker was requested to assist in shuttling water from the Safe Harbor Dam fill site to the brush trucks on-scene. The tanker operated at the woods fire for 28+ hours and was supplemented by multiple relief crews. Click here for the Lancaster Newspaper Article

Standby and Vehicle Accident Assist to Quarryville

8/28/2010 - Engine 5-1-1 along with Christiana Tanker 5-2-1 relocated to Station 5-7 Quarryville Fire Co. while the attended an all day burn session in West Chester.  at 11:08 a vehicle accident was dispatched at 35 Friendly Drive, in East Drumore Township.  Crews assisted with patient care and debris control. In House Training --  Vehicle Rescue

8/23/2010 - Tonight station 5-1 members gathered to review vehicle extrication techniques. Members were split up in to crews and assigned various tasks such as removing windshields, doors, roofs and pushing the dashes with our tool cache of electric sawzalls and hydraulic rescue tools. Thanks to everyone who came out for this great training refresher.

Assist Quarryville on a Working Barn Fire in Eden Township

8/22/2010 - 14:28 - 1224 May Post Office Rd, Eden Township, Barn, originally the fire was reported as our first due, but Captain 5-7 Joel Neff arrived corrected the location as a 5-7 box and advised a barn well off.   Engine 5-1-1 & Engine 5-7-2 laid supply lines along with Engine 5-1-2 in an alternate drive.  Nurse tanker operations to the supply lines were established by tankers 5-7, 5-10, 5-1-1 & 5-1-2, 2 fill sites were established and multiple tankers were used to shuttle water to the fire scene.  Crews quickly attacked the fire to save that attached milk house and surrounding outbuildings.  Trucks 5-7 and 4-2 used master stream operations to knock down the bulk of the fire.  Crews had some overhaul work with the assistance of a trackhoe. Special thanks to Kinzers FC Station 4-5 engine 5-1-1 for handling the relocate and assisting with hose cleaning & repacking. (additional photos)

Vehicle Accident -- Horse VS Minivan

8/20/2010 - 19:59 - Intersection Valley Rd (Route 372) & Quarry Rd, Bart Township, vehicle accident. Deputy 5-1 (Graybill) went enroute and was advised by LCWC that and minivan collided.  Units arrived to find a horse with life threatening injuries and 2 patients in the minivan with glass cuts.  Crews closed the roadway while a local veterinarian euthanized the horse.

In House Training --  Pro-Pak Foam Training

8/16/2010 - Tonight members gathered at the station for our monthly in-house training exercise.  Crews worked on using the pro-pak foam unit.  Crews simulated laying a foam blanket down at a vehicle fire leaking fuel. The night was cut short due to impending thunderstorms.  ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS, Next Monday night 23rd we will continue the vehicle extrication training.

Tanker Assist Strasburg FC Hotel/Motel Fire at Red Caboose Motel

8/6/2010 - 04:36 - 312 Paradise Ln, Paradise Township, Hotel/Motel, Tanker 5-1-1 assist Station 5-10 Strasburg FC. LCWC advised smoke coming from 1 of the walls in the caboose.  Chief 5-10 (Wentz) arrived with smoke showing.  Truck 5-10 & Engine 4-7-2 arrived and made the initial attack, as other units arrived they assisted with opening up the walls.  Tanker 5-1-1 supplied Paradise-Leaman Place FC Engine 4-7-2.  The incident was placed under control at 04:56, Tanker 5-1-1 cleared at 05:21.

Working Barn Fire in Colerain Township

8/6/2010 - 21:19 - 315 Bell Rd, Colerain Township, Barn,  Chief 5-1 (King) arrived to find a well involved 40x50 pole barn.  Engine 5-1-1 laid a supply line in and attacked the fire with 2 hand lines & blitzfire & 1 hand line on the exposure building.  Tanker 5-1-1 setup nurse tanker operations at the end of the driveway.  Engine 5-7-2 setup a draft site on Shady Rd to fill tankers, Truck 5-7 setup aerial operations at the fire building.  The remainder of the units assisted with manpower.  Crews made a quick knock on the fire and the incident was placed under control at 21:56. The PSP fire marshal determined the cause of the fire accidental.  The fire started from a nearby burn pit.  The fire loss was estimated at $55,000.  Thanks to all crews and the ladies auxiliary for assisting.  Final units cleared at 00:48 hours.  Special thanks to Gap FC Engine 4-2-2 and Christiana FC Tanker 5-2-2 for the relocate assignment to our station.   Units on scene: Engines 5-1-1, 5-1-2, 5-7-4, 5-7-2, Oxford 21-2, 21-4, Cochranville 27-2  Tankers 5-1-1, 5-1-2, 21, 27-5,  Rescues 5-7, 27 QRS 5-1, Medic 7-7-9. (lancasteronline.com article) Pics by Steve Sipos.

Vehicle Accident With Entrapment

8/5/2010 - 13:17 - Intersection Valley Rd (Route 372) & Mt. Pleasant Rd, Bart Township, vehicle accident with entrapment.  Deputy 5-1 (Graybill) went enroute with additional information by LCWC of 2 patients trapped with heavy vehicle damage. With the additional information, Deputy 5-1 requested the assistance of Quarryville FC Rescue 5-7.  Deputy 5-1 arrived to find a t-bone style 2 vehicle accident with 1 vehicle on it's roof.  Both patients self extricated and Rescue 5-7 was cancelled. Engines 5-1-1 & 5-1-2 assisted with debris & fluid control, the bumper line was pulled off Engine 5-1-1 due to the active fuel leak from the van.  QRS 5-1, Ambulance 4-3-1, Medic 6-12-10 & Medic 701 assisted with patient care.
