Another MVA involving Motorcycle Assisting Gap FC

8/16/2008 14:34 - 5331 Strasburg Rd, Salisbury Township, Engine 5-1-1 assist Station 4-2 Gap FC on a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. Gap FC units were out assisting Kinzers FC on a barn fire. Chief 5-1-2 (Graybill) arrived established command 4-2, advised of 1 motorcyclist down in the roadway barely conscious with severe trauma and requested aero medical for a direct fly.  Rescue 4-2 & Truck 4-2 cleared the barn fire and headed to the mva. Rescue 4-2 and Engine 5-1-1 assisted with patient care.  Ambulance 5-2-1 Christiana and Medic 7-7-9 SVEMS loaded the patient and headed to the Salisbury Township Park where Truck 4-2 (Chief Kurtz) setup a landing zone for Sky Flight Care 1 out of Brandywine Hospital.  The patient was flown to Lancaster General Hospital's Trauma center.  Units remained on-scene until 15:46 assisting with traffic control and the PSP troopers investigation.

MVA involving Motorcycle in Downtown Georgetown

8/15/2008 19:06 - Intersection of Georgetown Rd & Furnace Rd, Bart Township, vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. Units arrived to find 1 motorcycle that struck a telephone pole and our fire company events sign. Engine 5-1-1 assisted with traffic control and QRS 5-1 assisted the motorcycle rider. Crews awaited arrival of the PSP trooper.

8/5/2008 22:41 - 500 Block Creek Rd, Sadsbury Township, vehicle fire. Deputy 5-1 (LeFevre) arrived to find a vehicle well off.  Deputy 5-1 advised the vehicle fire was the result of a vehicle accident car vs. tree and the driver fled on foot.  Engine 5-1-1 OIC (Capt. 2 Kreider) arrived and pulled the front bumper line.  The gas lines burnt off off the vehicle making it a large fuel fed fire.  The foam pack was inserted in the hand line and make quick work knocking down the fire.  Tankers 5-1-1 and 5-1-2 were also on scene in case additional water was needed.  A crew was also in station for Engine 5-1-2 during the call.

MVA with Confinement at White Oak Rd & Route 896

8/4/2008 11:42 - Intersection of White Oak Rd & Georgetown Rd (896), Paradise Township, vehicle accident. Engine 5-1-1 OIC (Capt. 1 Fisher) arrived with a 2 vehicle accident.  Chief 5-1 (Woerth) arrived established command and advised the driver of the station wagon was confined. Engine 5-1-1 removed the driver side door at 12:11 hours allowing EMS from QRS 5-1, Ambulance 4-3-1 and Medic 7-7-9 to evaluate the patient.  Units cleared at 12:36 hours.

Annual Chicken Bar-B-Que & Community Yard Sale Held

8/2/2008 - The company held it's Annual Chicken Bar-B-Que & Community Yard Sale this past Saturday.  Some members gathered very early in the morning to light the charcoal pits for chicken grilling.  Other members started their old time homemade ice cream machines.  Tables were setup for rent in the banquet rooms & engine bays for community members to setup yard stands.  At 09:45 Engine 5-1-1 and a crew of 6 handled a spill control after a motor vehicle accident at Route 372 & 896 in the village of Green Tree.  Thanks to all who came out and helped for the day.

Assist Christiana FC on Working Barn Fire

7/31/2008 10:48 - 651 Noble Rd, Sadsbury Township, Engine 5-1-1, Engine 5-1-2, Tanker 5-1-1 assist Station 5-2 Christiana FC on a barn fire. Engine 5-1-1 arrived at 10:59 with heavy smoke showing from a horse barn. Engine 5-2-1 dropped the supply line back the lane. Engine 5-1-1's crew pulled the bumper line and made a quick knock of the fire on the barn floor.  Command 5-2 placed the fire under control at 11:04 hours. Crews worked on ventilation and overhaul while awaiting the PSP Fire Marshall.  Thanks to Quaryville FC Engine 5-7-2 for providing the engine company relocate.    (Photos courtesy of FF/EMT Rich Ressel)

7/28/2008 16:43 - 12 Broad St, Christiana Borough, Engine 5-1-1 assist Station 5-2 Christiana FC on a dwelling. Deputy 5-2 arrived on scene with smoke showing and confirmed fire on the 2nd floor. Engine 5-1-1 was assigned to RIT in the yard across the street from the fire building.  At 17:12 command 5-2 requested Engine 5-1-2 to assist with manpower.

7/20/2008 21:53 - Engine 5-1-1 with a crew of 8, under the direction of Captain 5-1-2 Kreider relocated to Chester County Station 21 Union Fire Co .No.1 of Oxford while they operated a working barn fire in East Nottingham Township. Station 5-2 Christiana FC Tanker 5-2-1 provided a tanker company transfer to Station 21. At 23:00, Engine 5-1-1 & Tanker 5-2-1 were alerted to 310 W Locust St. Oxford Borough for a smoke investigation. Units determined it to be smoke from the barn fire 21 units were working. Units cleared Station 21 at 01:27.

Units assist Strasburg with ISO Drill at LCPSTC

7/19/2008 - Strasburg FC requested assistance from there 1st alarm assignment for a simulated building fire at the Strasburg Railroad Museum.  The ISO drill was held at the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center.  Engine 5-1-1 drafted from a fold a tank at the scene, Engine 5-1-2 setup a fill site at the pond to fill tankers and tankers 5-1-1 and 5-1-2 shuttled water along with several other tankers. Thanks to all members who came out to participate on short notice and thanks to Chief Sam Terry of Station 21 Union FC of Oxford for providing a cover engine while we were at the drill.

7/18/2008 19:46 - Intersection of Georgetown Rd & Keneagy Hill Rd, Paradise Township, vehicle accident standby.  Captain 5-1-2 Kreider arrived to find a 22 foot tow behind travel trailer on it's side blocking traffic. The camper fell off the edge of the road, started to sway out of control and overturned. Null's Towing of Cochranville was immediately notified to upright the camper. Units provided traffic control and lighting for Nulls to upright the camper.  Final units cleared at 21:21. More pictures can be found at this link on Null's Towing website.
